Qualcomm’s Game-Changer for Mixed Reality with it’s Next-Gen XR Chip

In a game-changing move, Qualcomm has unveiled its plans to launch the next-generation chip for Extended Reality (XR) devices in Q1 2024. Hugo Swart, Qualcomm’s GM & VP of XR, made this revelation during an interview with Korean news outlet ETNews.

This chip is anticipated to power a range of mixed-reality devices, including Samsung’s upcoming mixed-reality headset. Notably, Samsung had hinted at this development during the Galaxy S23 smartphone launch event, where it teased a mixed-reality device using Google’s platform and Qualcomm’s advanced processing chipset.

Strategically aligning with the debut of the Galaxy S24 series, Qualcomm’s decision for the early 2024 launch has sparked industry speculation. Many believe the chip’s unveiling might coincide with Samsung’s announcement of its mixed-reality headset during the Galaxy S24 launch event.

Excitingly, this announcement opens the door to the possibility of Qualcomm introducing an entirely new lineup of high-end XR chips, setting the stage for a transformative era in mixed reality. The convergence of advanced hardware and innovative software promises unparalleled immersive experiences for consumers worldwide.
